Dr. Meaghan sits down and talks today to Alexis Nicole White. She is a relationship expert, entrepreneur, journalist, and author of the book The Covered.  Alexis uses her personal experiences and story to help convey to her readers the benefits of establishing emotional stability in your life.

Alexis’ objective is to:

  • Educate the fundamental knowledge of emotional abuse in relationships
  • Encourage women to develop and maintain healthy relationships
  • Empower women to become survivors of emotionally challenging situations and circumstances that may alter one’s outlook on life by being: transparent, fearless and resilient.

She shares with us the 5 rules for modern day relationships.

1.  Set clear boundaries It is imperative to set clear boundaries in your relationships to ensure that you are being treated with the utmost respect.  Without identifying those parameters, people will treat you the way they percieve is appropriate.

2.  Trust your inner voice God speaks to us.  He shows us signs.  He reveals things to us.  Our intuition is there for a reason- use it.  Trust your instinct.

3.  Don't believe the hype Every woman needs to have the ability to have their own money, housing and vehicle.  Ensure you have established your credit so that if you needed to get your own things today, you can.

4.  Don't be afraid to walk away If the relationship is not empowering you to become a better and not inspiring you to do better, thn it maybe something you need to leave behind.  Value yourself enough to know when something is not being fruitful and move on with your life.

5.  Identify quality relationships and people  Character breeds quality.  You deserve to surround yourself by quality people and relationships that fulfill you.

We dive into the fact in this podcast that

IF IT DOESN'T SERVE YOU, THEN DON'T SERVE IT.

Dr. Meaghan and BTHBA are excited to welcome Alison Kero to the podcast.  She is the CEO of the website ACK Organizing along with being a speaker, blogger, and author.

The reason that I am excited to have this conversation with Alison is that she is a decluttering expert.  I have seen firsthand how important organization and declutter can be for someone. And she focuses on the ramifications on health, both physical and mental, by keeping too much clutter in someone’s life.

She has been a professional organizer since 2004 and works with clients to make their lives simpler and take back control of their lives by getting rid of stuff that doesn't matter.

She does this through incorporating 5 basic steps to organizing your life:

1) Know Your Priorities

2) Establish Boundaries

3) Make Small, Self-Love Based Decisions

4) Create Simple Systems

5) Become Aware of Your Emotions/Intuition & How to Use it Effectively

RESOURCES WE TALK ABOUT ON THE PODCAST

Thanks so much for listening and thanks Alison for coming on the show.  I would like to leave you with one of Alison's mottos:

"One’s self or material goods, which has more worth"

Dr. Meaghan and Dr.  Ron Kirschling dive into the book The Brain Maker: The Power of Gut Microbes to Heal and Protect Your Brain- For Life by Dr. David Perlmutter.  This book really dives into the effects that the gut microbe has on brain health.  And even how the gut microbiome is linked to different diseases such as autism, obesity, and general health.

We have attacked our microbiome due to environmental factors, such as:

Due to these, and other reasons, we are seeing a rise in conditions that can be linked back to the gut and the microbiota being off.

  • How microbiome helps to manage inflammation
  • We transport our microbiome from one generation to the next

BTBHA welcomes back Patrick Plum to discuss Th1/Th2 Balance.  Patrick shares with us his personal story about Th1 and Th2 dominance in order to show the importance of balancing the immune system when dealing with chronic diseases of the immune system such as Lyme Disease.

This is an aspect of health and infectious diseases that practitioners don't always explore.  Therefore, it is important for everyone to understand the way the both parts of the immune system (the cell-mediated Th1 and the humoral-mediated Th2) work.

Supplements that don't affect either Th1 or Th2 include Vitamin D, colostrum and fish oil.  Here is how the two systems of Th1 and Th2 breakdown:

Th1/Th2 Balance
